How to cure your day drift with pride

One of my daughters fills in a daily diary. She missed a few days last week and asked me for help to remember what her days contained. We struggled! When she remembers to fill it in daily, she finds content no problem, but the groundhog feel to days right now makes it hard to recall her days in retrospect.

This blurring of the days is what I call ‘day drift’.

Day drift is dangerous for our mood.

By making time to review our days daily, we can to combat what I call ‘day drift’.

Here are some suggestions of questions for you and your team that could help as a 5-15min daily review space.

·      What have I achieved today?

·      What have I learnt today?

·      What do I want to remember?

I'm going to make a strong recommendation that you do this with a lens of pride. You may hear other mind voices (such as shame, sadness, guilt, anger etc) trying to distract you with their opinion (e.g. look at all the things you haven’t achieved, things you should have learnt, things you don’t want to remember).

Practising pride focused reflection will help the day drift.
