Anger: Turning on ourselves
Anger and frustration are likely to be on the increase as we continue to experience the physical, social and economic implications of this pandemic.
When we are angry there is more
• judgement
• dichotomous thinking such as 'us' and 'them' or 'right' and 'wrong'
• people will become more outspoken about their own opinions as sides are formed and division lines become clear
• people's language will become more disdainful of others who have different opinions
Tempers will be quick to rise and decisions will become rash with with emotion
This is a time to learn how to use compassion to temper frustration and fury.
Compassion for our own feelings and compassion for each other's decisions.
Turning our attention to connection rather than division is key.
